Harrington’s heroics

If there was ever a story to give us all inspiration then this was it.

Padraig Harrington won The Open in 2007 and 2008 plus capturing the US PGA Championship in 2008 before falling down the OWGR to 297th as he teed it up on Thursday morning at The Honda Classic at Doral. Many reporters and golf pundits had written him off but Harrington always believed that he was on the right track and kept working on his game, day in, day out.

“I really do believe in myself” said Padraig “Ive found that mental edge ive been lacking over the last few years.”

Then after a rain delay and the tournament finale pushed into a Monday finish Padraig won the Honda Classic on the 2nd thrilling play off hole with a sublime approach to the par 3 17th hole, a hole where in regulation play only 1/2 hour before he put it into the water. This really shows to me his mental toughness and I think the hole golfing world is delighted for him.

This win has pushed his OWGR up to 82nd and has also given him an invitation to The Masters. (i’ll be having a little each way bet on him in this)

There are no swing tips or drills in this weeks blog but just a note from me to say that if you truly want to succeed in this game and be the best that you can be then believe in yourself and get up off the arm chair and go and PRACTICE! after all practice makes permanent.
